(UNDATED) – Authorities say a medical incident may have caused an Orland man to crash his vehicle.
The Indiana State Police say that 73 year old Darrel Walter Junior was driving his pick up west on State Road 120 near County Road 300 West in Steuben County late Monday afternoon when he went off the road and then went 1500 feet through a cut down cornfield before crashing at low speed into a tree.
Walter was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say there were no signs that Walter tried braking his vehicle or took any evasive action. Assisting at the scene were the Fremont Fire Department, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the Steuben County EMS.
State Police are waiting for the Steuben County Coroner’s official medical report and for toxicology work which will hopefully determine an exact cause of death.
