
Voters Approve Three Of Five Millage Proposals Tuesday

(UNDATED) – Three of the five millage requests presented to voters in St. Joseph and Branch Counties were approved on Tuesday.
Voters in the Burr Oak School District approved a renewal of their schools’ sinking fund millage with 127 Yes votes to 35 No votes. The current sinking fund is set to end in 2024, and the renewal will run until 2029. It will continue to ask for 2.9712 mills.
Voters in Constantine Township voted in favor of a proposal that would give authority to raise money by special assessment for Township wide fire protection and ambulance service. That passes with 124 Yes votes to 97 No votes.
Constantine Township residents did say no to a request to an increase of .50 mills to be levied for five years on all taxable real and personal property for the purpose of local road repairs, upgrades and construction. That was defeated with 188 No votes to 154 Yes votes.
Voters in the Bronson Community Schools District renewed their sinking fund millage with 525 Yes votes to 194 No votes. The millage amount remains at 1.9766 mills, and will now run until 2028.
Voters in Quincy Township voted down a millage request for .5 mills for just over six years to purchase a new Township Hall. The proposal was defeated with 401 No votes to 183 Yes votes.
