(INDIANAPOLIS) – Another person has announced their candidacy for the Indiana Attorney General’s Office.
Destiny Wells has announced that she is running for the Democratic nomination to be the Indiana Attorney General. To date, no other Democratic candidates have announced they are running for the position. She will face incumbent Republican Attorney General Todd Rokita in the 2024 election.
Currently, Wells is the Deputy Chair for Coalitions and Expansion for the Indiana Democratic Party.
Wells grew up in Morgan County and is the daughter of eight generations of farmers. She attended Indiana University as a first generation college student. In the throes of 9-11, Wells enlisted in the Army National Guard at the age of 19 and later joined the Army ROTC.
Wells is a U.S. Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel. Outside of the military, she has served in multiple government litigation positions.
Wells says she is running for Indiana Attorney General to get Indiana back to serving Hoosiers, in addition to protecting medical privacy and workers rights, and to serve all Hoosiers.
Wells says she has worked at all levels of government: local, state federal and the multi-national level with NATO. As an attorney, she’s been Associate Corporation Counsel for the City of Indianapolis and Marion County. She has also been Deputy Attorney General for Indiana.
Wells ran for Indiana Secretary of State in 2022, but lost to Republican Diego Morales.
