Marvin Talks About Prosecutor Shortage

(CENTREVILLE) – There’s a shortage of prosecuting attorneys in Michigan, and it’s effect is being felt in St. Joseph County.

During Tuesday’s St. Joseph County Commission Executive Committee meeting, Prosecutor David Marvin alerted the Commission to this problem. He shares that his office is severely understaffed at the present time. ...... {LISTEN}.

Marvin says this is a problem that goes back several years. In talking with some other prosecutors, Marvin says many are dealing with this by simply raising how much they pay their staff. ...... {LISTEN}.

Marvin says he has been talking with County Administrator Teresa Doehring for the last couple of years about this problem. He says they have not come up with an answer, but would like to and be able to hire and retain employees.
