(STURGIS) – Sturgis City Commissioners have started the process of creating a vision for the City along with setting goals.

During a Monday work session, the Commission began talking about information they gave on the areas of Community, Infrastructure, Governance and Administration, Public Health and Safety along with Development and Growth.

Sturgis City Manager Andrew Kuk explains what was discussed by the Commissioners and City Staff. ...... {LISTEN}.

The Commissioners were also given information on summarizing Master Plan Goals; Parks and Recreation Plan Goals and Commissioner feedback tied into each area. As a reference, the Commission was given the Implementation section of both the 2020 Master Plan and the Parks and Recreation Plan.

Kuk says the Commission will work more on these ideas, especially as the City approaches the budget process for the upcoming fiscal year. The intent is to discuss and refine these proposals before voting on them.

Kuk says the vision and City goals would be for a five year period, and strictly what the Commission would like to see for the City. This is unlike what the City did for Sturgis 2022, which was a ten year plan with community input.
