(DEKALB COUNTY) – Both drivers were injured in a two vehicle crash over the weekend.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, 64 year old George Wessel of Spencerville was driving west on County Road 68 at 6:50 AM Saturday. He approached the intersection of State Road 101 and failed to yield to a southbound vehicle, and was struck on the passenger’s side.

Both vehicles went off road, with the Wessel vehicle hitting an Indiana Michigan power pole, shearing the pole and causing downed electrical wires.

Wessel complained of right rib and left leg pain. The driver of the second vehicle, 49 year old Marcus Tubbs of New Haven, had left shoulder pain. Both men were taken by Parkview DeKalb EMS to an area hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the Spencerville Fire Department, and the Concord Township Fire Department.
