(THREE RIVERS) – An estimated 10,000 gallons of wastewater has been leaked in the Three Rivers area.
Three Rivers Wastewater Superintendent Taylor Davis says the incident happened due to a broken bypass host that drained the wastewater into a storm sewer on the road near the pump station being repaired on Broadway Street.
Davis says the leak was discovered at 7 PM Friday and fixed by 8 PM.
In early October, Davis says there was a sanitary sewer overflow was due to complications during transition to the new pump station on Broadway Street. That overflow went into the St. Joseph River, and included a no contact advisory from the Broadway Street Bridge to the Withers Road Bridge.
