(CENTREVILLE) – A woman has been arraigned in connection with the death of her two year old child.
St. Joseph County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman says 21 year old Paige Nichole Bohne of Sturgis Township was arraigned Friday and is charged with open murder. Bond has been denied.
At 12:47 PM on November 7, Bingaman says deputies and medical first responders were sent to the Memory Lane Trailer Park at 25039 U.S. 12 for an unresponsive two year old inside the residence. Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful, and the child was pronounced dead. Due to the circumstances surrounding the death of the child, the St. Joseph County Major Crimes Task Force was activated.
As the investigation into the child’s death progressed, investigators took Bohne, who is the child’s mother, into custody on an original charge of involuntary manslaughter. The charge was amended at arraignment.
The matter is still under investigation.
