(FLORENCE TOWNSHIP) – A two vehicle crash claimed the lives of two Constantine residents over the weekend.
St. Joseph County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman says his department was called out at 9:30 AM Sunday for a two vehicle crash on Sevison Road near the intersection of Mintdale Road.
Deputies determined that a 22 year old from White Pigeon was driving a Mercedes north on Sevison Road. The driver lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center line and crashed head on into a southbound pick up truck.
The driver of the pick up, a 60 year old woman, and her passenger, a 51 year old man, both of Constantine, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The White Pigeon man was taken to a hospital to be treated for non life threatening injuries.
Bingaman says deputies attempted to stop the Mercedes on U.S. 131 but were unsuccessful. The driver had a suspended license.
Speed is thought to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
