(BRONSON) – A Bronson woman is facing multiple charges after drugs and weapons were found in her home, which is a licensed daycare facility.
The Branch County Southwest Enforcement Team and Michigan State Police say 35 year old Ember Finley was arrested Thursday after officers made a drug buy during an investigation that was prompted by community complaints.
Detectives with SWET and MSP Troopers and a K-9 officer came to her Compton Street home at 8:10 AM Thursday. She denied that she currently operates a daycare, after she obtained a State license.
Court records show that officers found five children in the house when they presented the search warrant and all were related to Findley. Officers say her four year old son was standing next to her as she attempted to flush items down the toilet.
When they executed the search warrant, officers seized several illegal narcotics including cocaine and a large amount of Hydrocodone, which were both packaged consistent with sale and distribution. Two stolen firearms was also located inside the home, along with digital scales, and five bills used by undercover officers to purchase drugs from Finley.
Finley is charged with felony counts of delivery of cocaine, delivery of Hydrocodone, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, along with misdemeanors charges of maintaining a drug house and fourth degree child abuse.
Online court records show Findley was arraigned Friday in front of Magistrate Valerie White. Bond was set at $10,000. She is scheduled to have a pre-trial conference on February 13 and a Preliminary Exam on February 19.
The matter is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed.
