(CENTREVILLE) – Several people had something to say about St. Joseph County Parks Tuesday afternoon.
During the public comments portion of the St. Joseph County Commission meeting, many individuals stepped up to the microphone to share their thoughts on county parks. During a previous meeting and on social media, Commissioner Christine Yunker shared that she would like to propose a process to divest the County of Covered Bridge Farm and Cade Lake County Park & Campground.
Brandon Kinsey was the first person to speak on this matter. ...... {LISTEN}.
Kinsey shared that people from 17 different states have visited Cade Lake Park to play the disc golf course, and that a new disc golf league has started. He says this is only a fraction of the people who visit and stay at Cade Lake Park.
Former County Commissioner Allen Balog shared that parks have been a selling point for St. Joseph County for many years. ...... {LISTEN}.
Balog says over the last 18 months, he’s been looking at some of the top places to retire, and all of the locations he’s seen have the same things in common, parks and trails.
This matter has never been an agenda item for the County Commission.
