Sturgis bowling teams do well at own singles tournament

(BRONSON) – The Sturgis boys and girls bowling teams did well at their own SinglesTournament on Tuesday. In the girls tournament, the top 8 bowlers moved on to the step ladder finals out of the 36 that started the day. Sturgis’ Khara Kimes qualified sixth with a four game total of 626. In the quarterfinals, she lost to Summer Stone of Marshall 356-340 and finished fifth. In the boys tournament, Andrew Matz qualified fifth with a total of 764. He then lost to Clayton Shortridge of Bronson 406-361 and finished sixth. Sturgis coach Scott Spahr says he continues to see improvement with the teams as the season moves on.
