(UNDATED) - With the extremely cold temperatures forecast for the listening area, some warming shelters will be open in the Sturgis and Three Rivers areas.
According to the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office there will be two shelters in Sturgis. One will be at Grace Point Church, 26268 West Chicago Road. It will be open on days when the real feel temperature is 9 degrees or below. It will be open to the public from 6 PM to 10 PM. Doors will close at 10 PM for overnight stays, which will run from 10 PM until 8 AM.
The other warming center will be at the Sturgis Commission On Aging, 306 North Franks Avenue. This will be open from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday.
One of the three warming shelters in Three Rivers will be at Daily Harvest Church, 205 North Main Street. This will be open for overnight warming and sleeping, and will be in operation on days when the real feel temperature falls below 32 degrees. Doors will lock at 9 PM and will be available to men only at this time. Individuals must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Three Rivers Commission On Aging at 1200 West Broadway Street will be open daytime only as a warming center. Hours of operation will be from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday.
Also open daytime only will be a center at the Three Rivers United Methodist Church, 215 North Main Street. Hours of operation will be Mondays and Fridays 10:30 AM to 2 PM and on Sundays from 10 AM until 2 PM.
