(KINDERHOOK TOWNSHIP) - A suspect has been arrested following an assault in Kinderhook Township.
Branch County Sheriff Fred Blankenship says at 12:30 AM Monday, deputies responded to the 300 block of Southern Road for a reported assault. During the investigation, deputies determined that two men were involved in an altercation.
64 year old Jeffery Badgley of Kinderhook allegedly assaulted the other man with a weapon. The victim was taken to Insight Hospital & Medical Center in Coldwater and is listed in critical condition.
A search warrant was executed at a residence in the 800 block of Huss Lea Lane to locate evidence related to the assault. Badgley was arrested on a felony charge of assault with intent to murder and is being held in the Branch County Jail.
Assisting with the investigation was the Coldwater Police Department.
Blakenship says this was an isolated incident, which is still under investigation.
