(THREE RIVERS) - The Three Rivers Department of Public Services will start their Spring hydrant flushing next week.
Three Rivers DPS Director Amy Roth says the flushing will take place between 7 AM and 3 PM Monday through Friday, starting on April 20 and going through May 25.
Due to several variables, Roth says the DPS is not able to determine exact date that crews will be in each district. With a new district order that takes effect this year, City crews will start flushing hydrants in the Third District, them move to the Second District, the Fourth District and then the First District.
Roth says it is not unusual for there to be some rusty water experienced during the flushing process due to disturbed iron sediment. If this happens, run cold water from the tap closest to the water meter for several minutes to clear the lines.
