(BATAVIA TOWNSHIP) - A traffic stop led to the arrest of a man and a woman on multiple charges.
The Branch County Sheriff's Office says deputies conducted a traffic stop at 12:22 AM Monday in Batavia Township, after observing a vehicle that had an inoperable headlight, no license plate light and was failing to maintain its lane.
Deputies identified the female passenger, and confirmed she had outstanding warrants for her arrest. The Coldwater Police K-9 Unit was called to the scene. A free air sniff was conducted around the auto, which resulted in a positive alert for narcotics.
A search of the vehicle uncovered narcotics. The driver, a Coldwater man, was arrested on drug related charges and lodged in the Branch County Jail. The woman was taken into custody on her outstanding warrants and also transported to the Branch County Jail.
