Glen Oaks Akin Smith signs with Indiana University East

(CENTREVILLE) - A member of the 2025-2026 Glen Oaks men's basketball team will be continuing his athletic and academic career in the fall. Outgoing sophomore Akin "Diggy" Smith has signed to play basketball with Indiana University East. They are an NAIA program located in Richmond, Indiana that competes in the River State Conference. Red Wolves head coach Mark Hester says they are super excited to have a player and person like Diggy join the program, and are looking forward to working with him. Hester says Smith's maturity and workmanlike approach is beyond his years. Smith, an Indianapolis native, had 12 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assist per game in his last year competing for the Vikings. He ended his career here with 538 points, a 43.7 shooting percentage, 18 blocks, 43 steals, 84 assists and 255 rebounds.
