(COLDWATER) - A donation has been given to the Branch County Sheriff's Office drone program.
Sheriff Fred Blankenship says they have received a $10,000 donation from Michigan Gas Utilities, in partnership with Wisconsin Public Service Foundation. The funds will be used to support the Office's Unmanned Aircraft System.
Blakenship says this partnership with Michigan Gas Utilities is invaluable to their agency and the community they serve. He says Michigan Gas Utilities' commitment to supporting public safety helps the Office enhance their capabilities and invest in technology that protects lives and property.
The generous contribution will be utilized to improve the Sheriff's Office drone capabilities by assisting with the acquisition of equipment, technology, training and resources
Drones have become an invaluable tool for modern law enforcement and emergency services agencies. The technology assists deputies and first responders with search and rescue operations, disaster response, missing person investigations, accident reconstruction, crime scene documentation and the assessment of hazardous or inaccessible areas.
The ability to quickly deploy aerial resources often provides critical information that improves decision-making while enhancing the safety of both responders and the public.
