The 2026 U.S. 12 Heritage Trail Garage Sale will be happening Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9. Known as "Michigan's Longest Garage Sale," this 200-mile journey from New Buffalo to Detroit is more of a massive treasure hunt than a simple yard sale.
Every year, hundreds of vendors set up at homes, farms, and businesses to sell everything from antiques and furniture to fresh produce and homemade treats. While the items are a major draw, the event is most celebrated for its vibrant social atmosphere and the unique stories shared by locals along the route.
Motorists are reminded to be careful if they are driving on U.S. 12 this weekend. Watch for vehicles making frequent and sudden stops, along with people walking across the roadway.
