(GIRARD TOWNSHIP) - A traffic pursuit led to the arrest of an individual.
The Branch County Sheriff's Office says at 12:21 AM Sunday a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Union City Road near Bell Road in Girard Township for an equipment violation. The deputy activated his emergency lights and siren, but the suspect vehicle drove away and was pursued before eventually stopping.
The investigation determined that the driver, a 46-year-old Branch County resident, had his driver's license revoked. Additionally, the vehicle had not been registered since 2023 and the vehicle was uninsured.
The driver was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding; operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving while license revoked.
The incident is being reviewed by the Branch County Prosecutor's Office.
