(THREE RIVERS) – The strike by United Auto Workers against General Motors is effecting employees at a Three Rivers facility.

According to WWMT, American Axle Manufacturing has had to lay off some of their workers. The facility, which builds axles for trucks, is one of the largest employers in St. Joseph County.

With the demand for parts dropping related to the UAW strike, American Axle is now only running one shift, where normally they have three shifts going.

American Axle officials and local UAW officials both had no comment about the strike or if there would be anymore layoffs.
