(PENN TOWNSHIP) – Authorities say speed appears to be a factor in a one vehicle crash.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department was called to Decatur Road north of Shurte Street in Penn Township at 6 PM Wednesday. Initial investigation shows that 40 year old Christopher Lee of Elkhart drove off the road into a curb, flipping his vehicle onto its top.

Lee and his passenger, 32 year old Alicia Egber of Elkhart, were evaluated at the scene by Life Care Ambulance and then transported to Lakeland Hospital in Niles to be treated.

Deputies say seatbelts were worn by both individuals. Also assisting deputies were the Penn Township Fire Department.
