CTE Millage Proposal Going To Voters Tuesday
By: Mike Stiles - Monday, November 4, 2019

(CENTREVILLE) – Voters in St. Joseph County will be asked to decide the fate of a millage proposal for Career and Technical Education on Tuesday.

The proposal, presented by the St. Joseph County Intermediate School District, is asking for one mill for a ten year period to help fund the CTE programs at all schools in St. Joseph County, along with the ISD. If passed, it is estimated the millage would raise $2.3 million in the first year.

Over the last 18 months, the CTE Consortium has been holding open houses to explain the millage request and to listen to what the community has to say. One of the main comments presented by residents is that they support CTE, but are concerned about the cost of the program.

St. Joseph County ISD Superintendent Dr. Teresa Belote shares what she has heard from businesses and the school districts. ...... {LISTEN}.

Polls will be open Tuesday from 7 AM until 8 PM.
