Arrest Made In Attempted LaGrange Armed Robbery

(LAGRANGE) - An attempted robbery at the LaGrange Marathon Station ended with the arrest of a LaGrange man Sunday evening.

Police responded to the station at 9:21 PM for a report that a man with a knife was attempting to rob the station and harm employees.

The man was still inside when police arrived. Officers tried de-escalation tactics but the man refused to comply with their commands. He then threw a screwdriver and merchandise from the store at the officers.

Police used a taser and OC spray to take the man down and into custody.

22 year old Steve Agular of LaGrange was jailed on charges of armed robbery, three counts of battery to police officers, resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.

Sheriff’s deputies, Wolcottville and Shipshewana police, Indiana State Police and Conservation Officers assisted LaGrange Police in the investigation.
