(CENTREVILLLE) – A recount will be done on the votes cast for Mendon Township's Proposal 1.
St. Joseph County Clerk Lindsay Oswald says the County Board of Canvassers will meet November 19 at 9 AM in the History Room of the Historic Courthouse in Centreville. They will recount the ballots cast November 5 in Mendon Township for Proposal 1.
Proposal 1 passed with 331 YES votes to 319 NO votes, or 50.9% to 49%. The proposal was asking for the Mendon Township Zoning Ordinance to be amended to permit the construction of both small and large solar energy systems in the Township. The proposal would also establish the restrictions, requirements and guidelines for the construction of such systems within the Township.
