(MASON TOWNSHIP) – One person was injured when their vehicle struck a deer.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department was called at 4 AM Friday to a personal injury crash in Mason Township. Deputies say 50 year old Jeanie Sue Haines of Edwardsburg was driving east on U.S. 12 near Kessington Road when she struck a deer that ran into the road.

Haines' airbag deployed. She sustained minor injuries and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for medical care. Haines was wearing her seat belts.

The Porter Township Fire Department and SEPSA Ambulance assisted deputies at the scene.
