(SOUTH BEND) – A Howe man died when the pickup truck he was driving crashed into the median of U.S. 20 near South Bend Sunday morning.

45 year old Michael Maskow was ejected and killed while a female passenger was found unconscious and suffered head and neck injuries and a possible broken ankle. Her name was not released.

Witnesses told police Maskow had passed another vehicle at high speed and then veered into the median wall. Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.

Maskow’s license was suspended. He’d been arrested earlier this month for driving as a habitual traffic violator.
