(HOWARD TOWNSHIP) – One person was injured in a two vehicle crash in Cass County's Howard Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke says his deputies were called to a two vehicle incident near the intersection of Baron Lake Road and White Street at 9:22 PM Saturday.

Deputies say a pick up driven by a 44 year old Niles woman failed to yield at the intersection to a southbound vehicle driven by Tara Starrett of Dowagiac. Following the crash, the driver of the pick up left the scene and was followed by witnesses until deputies could make contact with her. She was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an injury accident and driving without a
license. Her name has not been released pending arraignment.

Starrett was taken to Lakeland Hospital in Niles to be treated for non life threatening injuries.

The Pokagon Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
