Sturgis School Board Gets Adult Education Update

(STURGIS) – The Sturgis Board of Education got an update on the adult education program during their Monday study session.

Adult Education Coordinator Michelle Devries (da-VREES) shared with the Board how the program works, and some changes that have come to adult education as well. ...... {LISTEN}.

As part of the WIOA Grant, Adult Education hired two new teachers. One is for high school completion and one is for GED. In addition, Adult Education is offered four nights a week to better meet the needs of the students.

Devries says the program is also reaching out and creating partnerships with area businesses along with Glen Oaks Community College. This will allow Adult Education students to learn more about the businesses in the area and possibly lead them into careers once they graduate.

The age range for the Adult Educations students range from 18 to 78.
