(KINDERHOOK TOWNSHIP) – Two fishermen were rescued from a Branch County lake after falling through the ice on Sunday.

According to the Branch County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to Silver Lake in Kinderhook Township at 3:45 PM Sunday. Officers found Shawn Cronkhite and William Lewis standing in five feet of water and hanging on to their ice sled. The men were approximately 200 yards from shore and as they were changing positions, they fell through the ice.

The Lakeland Fire Department used an ice sled to get out to the men. They broke through the ice and used flotation wraps to pull Cronkhite and Lewis to shore.

The fishermen were in the water for 25 minutes. They were treated by rescue personnel for hypothermia.
