Southern Michigan Has 17 New Cases Of COVID-19

(UNDATED) – Authorities say 17 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported from Wednesday to Thursday in Southern Michigan.

According to the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency, 4 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in St. Joseph County. That means 80 people have the virus, and 1 person has died.

There were 8 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Branch County, making 90 people that have tested positive. 2 people have died in the county. Hillsdale County has 3 new cases, which brings the total number of coronavirus cases in the county to 155. There have been 22 people who have died from coronavirus.

The Michigan Department of Corrections says there were no new cases of coronavirus at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater. There are 791 inmates and 34 staff members who have tested positive, while 20 inmates have died from the virus.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is reporting that Cass County has 2 new cases of COVID-19. That makes 46 people who have the virus and 2 people who have died.

Statewide, 1,191 new COVID-19 cases were reported. The brings the total number of Michiganders that have tested positive to 49,582. There were 73 more people who died from the virus, which makes 4,787 people who have passed away.
