(LANSING) – The re-opening of Michigan's economy is taking some more steps forward.

Thursday morning, Governor Gretchen Whitmer shared during her press conference that as part of her MI Safe Start Plan, more businesses will be able to re-open their doors in the very near future after she signed some Executive Orders. ...... {LISTEN}.

In addition, gatherings of 10 or less people are now permitted if the participants practice social distancing. That goes into effect immediately.

Whitmer says auto dealership showrooms and retail businesses will be allowed to open on May 26. Also the medical, dental and veterinary procedures can start on May 29.

The data shows that Michigan is ready to phase in these sectors of the economy, according to Whitmer. She says we must stay vigilant and ensure we are doing everything we can to protect ourselves and our families from the spread of COVID-19.
