(ELKHART) – The drivers of two vehicles were injured when their automobiles collided.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department says 40 year old Michael Newcomer of Goshen was driving south on County Road 7 at 6 AM Monday. Investigators say Newcomer failed to yield at the intersection of County Road 38 and was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

Newcomer was treated at the scene and declined further medical treatment.

The second driver, 26 year old Indya Bainter of Bristol, complained of head pain and was taken by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital. Both drivers were wearing their safety belts.

Newcomer was cited for failure to yield.
