June Jobless Rates Down Around NE Indiana

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Jobless rates dropped around Northeast Indiana during the month of June.

Data released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development shows LaGrange County had an unemployment drop from May's figure of 10.2 percent to 7.9 percent in June, which is a difference of 2.3 percent. One year ago, the county's unemployment rate was 2.8 percent.

The biggest loss in the area was in DeKalb County, which saw a drop of 4.2 percent, going from 14.2 to and even 10 percent.

Noble County had a change in unemployment of 4.1 percent, going from 16.1 to 12 percent. Steuben County had a drop in unemployment from 11.7 to an even 9 percent, a difference of 2.7 percent.

Elkhart County went from 11.8 to 10.9 percent, a drop of .9 percent.

Statewide, the unemployment rate in Indiana was 11.2 percent for June. The national unemployment rate was 11.1 percent.
