(COLDWATER) – The Coldwater Police Department apprehended a shoplifting suspect not once, but twice.
Coldwater Director of Public Safety Joe Scheid says his department was contacted Saturday at 10:30 AM by employees at the Wal Mart store who said they tried to stop a male subject for shoplifting. The man ran away, but was located and arrested a short time later by Coldwater Police.
Officers says the 29 year old suspect had multiple warrants. After being taken into custody, he was able to escape from the back of a patrol car while driving to the Branch County Jail.
The man was arrested a second time following a short foot chase and lodged at the jail. No injuries were reported. Michigan State Police assisted with the investigation.
