By: Mike Stiles - Wednesday, October 14, 2020

(STURGIS) – Sturgis Public Schools say they have a student that may have COVID-19.

Harmonee McCrea, Principal of the Sturgis Great Start Readiness Program, says it has come to the District's attention that a student who attends the program is a probable COVID-19 case. The student was last seen at Jerolene School on October 12.

McCrea says while they can never now for sure, it is the District's understanding that the student contracted the virus at home.

McCrea says they have worked with the Community Health Agency to identify close contacts, and are notifying them, and placing them under quarantine until Tuesday, October 27. In addition, they are executing proper cleaning procedures and will continue to follow health department guidance.

All other GSRP staff and students will continue with in person
school as scheduled.

If anyone has questions or concerns, they can contact Dave Northrop at dnorthrop@sturgisps.org.
