(CALVIN TOWNSHIP) – One man was injured when a tree fell on him over the weekend.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was called just before 6 PM Sunday to assist the Penn Township Fire Department for a person who had been injured by a falling tree in the 18,000 block of Brownsville Road in Calvin Township.
Deputies arrived and following their investigation determined that 40 year old Ro-Mell Dungey was trying to remove trees on his property, when one of the trees fell on top of him. Dungey's 14 year old son removed the tree from on top of his father and then went to find help.
Rescue personnel removed Dungey from the woods. He was flown by Med Flight to South Bend Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Also assisting at the scene were the Central Cass Fire Department and Pride Care EMS.
