(COLDWATER) – A Coldwater man who was arrested in connection with the death of a bicyclist has had his case bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.

Officials with Branch County District Court say the case of 27 year old Daniel Ward is moving on to Circuit Court following a preliminary hearing that started in October, then was adjourned and resumed Tuesday and finished up Wednesday.

Ward is charged with operating while intoxicated causing death, moving violation causing death, reckless driving causing death, use of methamphetamine and use of marijuana. It's alleged that Ward was driving his SUV on April 12, 2021 and struck 25 year old Era Hall, who was riding her bicycle on Old U.S. 27 near Nye Road.

Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ward will be arraigned in Circuit Court on January 10. He remains free on a $100,000 bond.
