By: Tim Murray - Friday, January 11, 2019

(GOSHEN) - Goshen Police say one of their officers shot a suspect in a pursuit that lasted 40 minutes Wednesday evening.

34 year old Joshua Perry of Goshen suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Goshen Hospital.

The pursuit began at 9:17 PM when a Goshen Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle on Lincolnway East and Kercher Road.

The vehicle refused to stop and the pursuit wore on at speeds in the 30 to 40 mile per hour range. Police deployed stop sticks at several locations which flattened the tires of the suspect vehicles and eventually ended the chase at Third and Washington Streets.

At the end of the chase an incident occurred that prompted the officer to fire his duty weapon. A news release did not describe what happened in that moment.

The officer’s name is being withheld. They’ve been placed on administrative leave during the investigation which is being conducted by Elkhart County Homicide Unit.
