(CENTREVILLE) – A special award has been given to a Glen Oaks Community College instructor.
Michelle McNamara, Professor of Communications, has been selected to receive the National Institute For Staff And Organization Development Suanne Davis Roueche Faculty Conference Scholarship. McNamara is one of five recipients in the nation to receive this prestigious award, which reflects the organization's mission of promoting and celebrating excellence in teaching, learning and leadership at community and technical colleges.
McNamara says there is simply no other job in the world that has such a tremendous impact on our future as teaching. She says she appreciates every day in the classroom and with her ability to connect and interact with students from diverse backgrounds, has made it clear that teaching is not just what she does, but who she is.
The award is named in honor of the late Suanne Davis Roueche, who served as the NISOD Director from 1985 until 2000. During that time, membership grew as did conference attendance.
McNamara will be recognized at the 2019 NISOD annual International Conference on Teaching And Leadership Excellence in late May.
