Indiana Unemployment Steady For April 2019
By: Tim Murray - Monday, May 20, 2019

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana’s unemployment rate remained at 3.6 percent for April.

The state’s labor force had a net increase of 1,349 over the previous month. This was a result of an increase of 29 unemployed residents and an increase of 1,320 employed residents.

Private sector employment decreased by 3,600 over the previous month. The monthly decrease is primarily due to losses in the Financial Activities (-600) and the Manufacturing (-400) sectors.

Losses were partially offset by gains in the Leisure and Hospitality (1,600) and the Construction (1,100) sectors.

County unemployment rates for Indiana are due out today.
