LaGrange Man Arrested For Helping With Burglary

(ANGOLA) – A LaGrange man was one of three people arrested for a break in.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Department was called to 500 North Gerald Lett Avenue at 10:30 Friday morning for a reported burglary. Deputies arrived and found a dog that had been shot and a cat that had been kicked.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the home that showed a suspect vehicle and four individuals. While at the house, police were able to identify a vehicle that drove by which matched a description of the suspect vehicle.

Deputies along with the Angola Police stopped the vehicle at County Road 200 West and Buck Lake Road. The occupants of the auto matched the description of the burglary suspects. Several items taken from the house were found in the vehicle.

Authorities obtained more information that led them to a travel trailer at Buck Lake Ranch. The trailer contained several items taken during the burglary, including several firearms and tools. Another location near Mongo also had two stolen four wheelers taken during the robbery.

Officers arrested 21 year old Vincent Chilcote of LaGrange, 23 year old Austin Cox of Kendallville and 26 year old David Householder of Brooklyn, Michigan.

Chilcote is charged with burglary, theft and two counts of torturing or mutilating an animal along with ten counts of theft greater than $750. Cox faces charges of burglary and theft and ten counts of theft greater than $750.

Householder was charged with false reporting, burglary, theft and outstanding warrants out of LaGrange and Allen Counties.
