(LAGRANGE) - The LaGrange County Commissioners chose a new methodology Monday for construction of a new justice building.
Normally the county follows the traditional public works method where specifications and bidding documents are prepared and the project goes out to bid.
This time they will use the state’s design-build law. It allows a public agency to sign a contract with a design-builder to provide the architectural, engineering and design services as well as labor, materials and construction services.
County Attorney Kurt Bachman says the law requires the appointment of a technical review committee.
On that committee are County Engineer Sarah Farlow, County Surveyor Rex Pranger, Commission President Larry Miller, Council President Peter Cook, Travis Glick, Dan Bontrager, and Planning-Zoning Director Bob Shanahan.
