(CENTREVILLE) – A Sturgis woman has been sentenced for allegedly taking money from a sports organization.
St. Joseph County Circuit Court officials say 42 year old Tammie Cain was sentenced Friday on a charge of attempted larceny from a building. She was sentenced to one day in jail and one day credit and was placed on two years probation. She must also pay back $20,000.
She turned herself into authorities after an arrest warrant was issued, following an investigation into missing funds from the Sturgis Youth Soccer Organization. The SYSO Board started investigating discrepancies in their funds in March and then filed a complaint of embezzlement.
Cain, a former SYSO Board member, plead no contest to the charge.
