(MILTON TOWNSHIP) – Authorities say alcohol was a factor in a four vehicle crash in Cass County's Milton Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was called to M-60 near Reum Road at 4:15 Saturday morning. Investigators say 43 year old Tory Miller of South Bend was driving north in the south bound lane of M-60. A truck driven by 23 year old Emily Oostema of Kalamazoo was heading south and swerved to miss Miller's vehicle. Her truck was struck, going into the median where it overturned and landed in the north bound lane. Oostema was wearing her safety belt and not injured.

A semi, driven by 59 year old Daniel Barton of Cassopolis, was also heading south and was struck by Miller's vehicle. Barton's semi went off the road and overturned, spilling it's cargo into a farm fiend. Barton was not injured and also wearing his safety belt.

Deputies say 38 year old Eric Missing of Granger, Indiana was in the north bound lane and was watching Miller. After Miller struck Oostema and her truck came into the north bound lane, Missing swerved into the median. His auto was damaged, but Missing was not injured.

Miller's vehicle was damaged and caught on fire. Two people were able to get Miller out of his automobile. He was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. Deputies say in addition to using alcohol, Miller was not wearing his safety belt.
