(DETROIT) – Detroit Pistons new General Manager Troy Weaver has started filling out the rest of his front office. The Pistons have hired former Bucks executive David Mincberg as an assistant GM, a league source confirmed to the Free Press on Tuesday. Milwaukee hired Mincberg to be their director of basketball strategy in 2017. Prior to that, he served five years as the director of scouting for the Memphis Grizzlies. He has ties with Pistons senior adviser Ed Stefanski, who was a Grizzlies executive from 2014-18. Mincberg’s hire is the first of several the Pistons will make to round out Weaver’s staff, per a source. The Pistons’ previous assistant GM’s, Malik Rose and Pat Garrity, have departed the organization.
