(SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP) - A high speed chase over the weekend resulted in a Bronson man being arrested.
The Branch County Sheriff's Office says at 9:07 PM Saturday, deputies attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop on a vehicle in Sherwood Township that had an equipment violation and a missing license plate. The driver sped away from deputies.
The chase came to an end when the suspect attempted to drive through a snow covered field in Union Township and came to a stop. The driver was arrested while a female passenger was detained for a short time and later released.
While searching the vehicle, deputies discovered narcotics, and that the driver had an active outstanding warrant for his arrest in another county.
The suspect is facing several charges, including fleeing and eluding and drug related charges.
