(ROME CITY) - Motorists on the north side of Rome City will be facing traffic disruptions starting today.

A bridge construction project will reduce travel to a single lane according to city officials.

The work will force traffic into one lane, with a temporary signal controlling alternating northbound and southbound movement through the construction zone. The project is expected to slow traffic and may cause brief delays, particularly during peak travel times.

Orange Township Fire Chief Gene Landers is urging drivers to use caution and patience while traveling through the area, noting the potential impact on emergency response.

The Orange Township Fire Department anticipates emergency response delays of roughly 40 seconds to one minute while navigating the restricted area. Officials said contingency plans are in place to minimize the impact and maintain emergency services.

Drivers are advised to slow down, obey posted signs, remain alert for emergency vehicles, and allow extra travel time when passing through the area.
