(COLDWATER) - The City of Coldwater has issued a response to being named in a lawsuit.
Coldwater was recently named in a lawsuit that contains allegations against the City, relatives to payments in lieu of taxes provided through the Electric Fund. After thorough initial review, the City believes that the allegations are entirely without merit. Coldwater and CBPU strives to abide by all laws and regulations and rejects any allegations of improper or unlawful action.
The City takes all legal matters seriously and remains fully committed to transparency, accountability, and the responsible stewardship of public resources.
In the release, Coldwater City Attorney Amanda O'Boyle says the actions of the City Council and CBPU are conducted through public meetings and forums that are open to the public and available to view online. She says the claims alleged in this lawsuit are baseless and the City intends to assert a meritorious defense in court.
O'Boyle says Coldwater will address the specific allegations through the proper judicial channels.
