(CENTREVILLE) - Glen Oaks Community College President Dr. Bryan Newton has received a special recognition.

Newton has been named a recipient of the Phi Theta Kappa Paragon Award for New Presidents. This is a national honor recognizing college leaders who demonstrate a strong and early commitment to student success.

Newton was selected for the award following nominations from Phi Theta Kappa student leaders. The recognition highlights new presidents who actively support academic excellence, leadership development and meaningful student engagement within the first three years of service.

According to PTK's official announcement, honorees are recognized for prioritizing high achievement and fostering campus environments where students are encouraged to persist, complete their credentials and pursue successful transfer and career outcomes.

Newton will be honored during Phi Theta Kappa's annual international convention, Catalyst 2026. The event will be held March 26 through March 28 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Award recognition events will take place Friday, March 27 during the Presidents Luncheon and the Third General Session.

Since joining Glen Oaks, Newton has prioritized direct engagement with students and shared governance. He has championed student representation in institutional decision-making and supported expanded opportunities for leadership development both on and off campus.

Newton says the award reflects Glen Oaks' commitment to excellence in teaching, comprehensive student support services and community partnership.
